President’s Message

I sincerely hope everyone is doing well and enjoying these last few days of summer. I’m pleased to report our August 7th picnic was a great success. Many members and their guests attended. I had great pleasure seeing and visiting with everyone. There was plenty of good food, deserts and great interaction amongst the group. The club membership raffle was also a great hit as well. I want to thank all of you for coming out which most importantly brought us back together. A special thank you is in order to those volunteers who helped with food preps and providing all the necessities for the picnic. For those who had out of pocket expenses please submit your receipts to our treasurer for reimbursement.

During the picnic I presented our upcoming meeting schedule which was for us to start meeting on September 28th. Base on the current pandemic up tick and mandates put in place we are canceling the meeting for September. Also, November and December general meetings are in a TBD status because of pandemic unknowns.

Our website is up and running and can be viewed at www.bremertonsportsmensclub.org. I hope each of you will visit the site and promote the site asking your friends to check it out. Reach out to the younger hunters and fishermen who might potentially be interested in joining our club. We really need to start an aggressive recruitment campaign. I’ve monitored our website periodically, there’s been very few hits on the site, which really surprises me. New members will be the key to BSC’s continuance and our legacy. Facing reality, if we are unable to recruit the next generation, we will all be faced with difficult decisions in the very near future.

For the past three years my energy was focused on WDFW issues such as public access closure, Columbia River reform, Point No Point boat ramp, etc. My priorities have now changed, recruitment of new members is my total focus moving forward and I need everyone’s fresh ideas and help.

Until we have the opportunity to meet again, stay safe, get outdoors and play.
